Indian Mobile Users Consumed 55 Million TB of Data in 2019: TRAI

TRAI reported that Indian mobile users consumed 55 million TB of data in 2019, though the year is not ended yet. The main reason for this increase in internet usage is LTE adoption by the telecom operators in India. As per the prediction, this number will increase significantly in the near future.

The telecom regulator of India or TRAI said that the rapid increase in mobile internet usage is caused due to the introduction of 4G/LTE technology. Last year users consumed 46,404 million GB of data, in 2014 users consumed 828 million GB of data.

Also, another reason is the revolution that has been brought by Jio by offering cheap data services to consumers. By following this, other operators also offered data at a competitive rate.

“The volume of total wireless data usage increased from 828 million GB during the year 2014 to 46,404 million GB during the year 2018-19. The wireless data usage in the year 2019 is expected to surpass the previous year usage by a significant margin as reflected by usage of 54,917 million GB until September 2019”
